I wanted to make my own contribution to the holiday sales scene this year. Since Black Friday happens really late this time around, though, I’m starting now. For the month of November, I’m running a “4 for $40” sale on Going Cardboard DVDs.
“What am I going to do with 4 copies of this movie?” you may ask yourself.
Well, I’m glad you asked. As many of you know, a big component of Going Cardboard involves Scott Nicholson and his board gaming in libraries initiative. I’ve always been delighted to support libraries that reach out to me, by doing screenings, Q&As, and so forth. But that requires libraries to get in touch with me, and to be aware of board gaming and Going Cardboard already. I’d like to see a community effort to reach out to our local libraries, for all of us to proactively support board gaming exposure via your local library.
SO, long story short, yes it’s the holiday season, and I bet there are several people on your list who would love to see a copy of the documentary accompanying a new board game. But if you can’t think of what to do with 4 copies of the film, I would LOVE to have people donate a copy to their library. And while you’re at it, why not offer to do a presentation, demonstration, or talk about modern tabletop board games for them? Libraries are always looking for interesting events to offer their patrons. This could even lead to regular board gaming nights at your local library, if they don’t already offer them. How cool would that be?
So there’s my proposal. It’s a Black Friday offer with a bit of heart to it. I’ve added the purchase options to the Going Cardboard website. Please spread the word!Tags: documentary
